We had lunch today at one of the local Chinese buffets. I had asked for Chinese on New Year's Day, but hubby wanted Italian instead. So this was our first Chinese meal of the year and thus my first fortune cookie.
It seems that fortune cookies are now not just fortunes, but can be simply wise words in the manner of Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac. Today's "fortune" falls into that category, and comes from Benjamin Disraeli in a speech before the [UK] House of Commons in May 1866.
