H is for Hungry

I'm a day late uploading my A-to-Z Challenge post for “H”, but it's not entirely my fault. For most of Saturday, I was focused on Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon and when I did take time to create my daily post, LiveJournal was not responding—again. I'm told that is because the site's computers have been subjected to massive denial of service attacks aimed at a couple of blogs which have political content. At any rate, I'm catching up today—first with this post, then the skipped “F” post, and then the scrapbook pages for “E”, “F”, “G”, and “H”.

“Hungry” is definitely the word for Saturday. The Read-a-Thon takes a lot of energy—particularly to keep reading in the wee hours of the morning as the event is winding down. Our plans were to go out to eat for all the meals so that I could read on the way to and from the restaurant as well as while I was eating. But, late in the afternoon, I decided at the last minute to go ahead and put together the Chicken Chili with Barley. As it was simmering away, the fragrance spread through the house and I could hardly wait until it was ready to eat. I was definitely hungry by the time I dished up a bowl and carried it to the table along with my book.

Scrapbook page to be posted later today. Read-a-Thon participation documented at Reading in Texas.

Update on 12 April...
